3.4 Neoliberalism

With seven billion people we need some forms of managing the demand and supply.   We have seven billion people with the basic needs for shelter and food.   With the requirement of shelter comes the liberty of privacy and the right to own property.   There are economics ideologies that profess communal ownership, however there are problems that arise from that as well.   This dissertation asserts that there is a need for the basic liberty of private property.   The analysis has been done and Australia with its’ private property and government housing for those that are unable provides the best means to organize property.   Given, there are the problems of landlords and tenants for those who are unable to afford property and given, there is the problem of loans from banks and other private lenders for the twenty five year mortgage which brings about the problem of interest, capital gains and inflation, however the people of western states who own and rent property are generally wealthier and happier.   There is no easy solution to the problems of organization, however we have lessons from history and neoliberalism has come out the winner

As the two extreme ideologies of communism and capitalism have been in battle for the last century with a conflict of arms at every turn, the leaders of tomorrow, the young adults of today have to congregate and devise a solution to our problems of organization.  The solution to our dilemma comes with the Buddhist philosophy of the middle path.  We have to take the benefits of each ideology and meet in the middle.  We will concede private property.  However I believe that the government should hold onto and manage some essential services like road, rail, electricity, gas and water.  Yes, we believe free markets of the west will foster innovation and deliver better services with competition, however essential utilities and services like health and education ought to remain within government control.  Australia with its neoliberal philosophies has proven to be the richest and happiest state in the present day world.   Holding healthcare and education in the government hands ensures that the population is healthy and educated, leading to a happier people.   Even though essential utilities ought to be state controlled, the people will have the choice in the market place.  The freedom to go the supermarket and choose what to eat, drink and wear will be held with the utmost respect.
